Valparaiso, IN

Thanks to Terry Michaels for his contributions to this page.

Valparaiso was an auxiliary (repeater) station on AT&T's first transcontinental microwave route, linking LaPorte, IN to the east and Chicago Heights, IL to the west.

Valapraiso's physical structure is a 191-foot type 4D concrete "silo" tower.

Like all of the stations on the transcontinental route, Valapraiso was originally equipped with KS-5759 delay-lens antennas. These were replaced by KS-15676 horn-reflector antennas, which increased route capacity by allowing the use of more frequencies and two polarizations.
